After Self-Excluding

What to Expect After Self-Excluding

Choosing to voluntarily self-exclude can be a difficult decision. But once you've decided that it's the best thing for you, here's what to expect:

  • Self-exclusion begins immediately after you've signed the agreement and lasts for the period of time chosen by you. It cannot be cancelled or changed in any way.
  • Once you have signed up, your information will be shared with all security offices in all casinos and RECs in Alberta.

Counselling Can Help

Experience has shown that those who participate in Counselling along with a Self-Exclusion Program have a much higher likelihood of successfully regaining control of their gambling behaviours. At any time, you can also call the 24-hour, toll free Alberta Health Services (AHS) Addiction Helpline at 1-866-332-2322 for free, confidential support.

Entering a Casino and Gambling While Self-Excluded

If you enter a casino while self-excluded and you are identified, security will be alerted and you will be asked to leave. Continued violations of the Self-Exclusion Agreement may result in monetary fines and/or removal from the program. If you do gain entry and aren't detected, you are still in violation of your agreement.

You may re-enroll in the program after you have completed the enrollment period indicated on your agreement form.
